The local Sell/Swap Facebook group is extremely popular, you can sell stuff on there in minutes, but there isn't a group, as far as i'm aware, where you can specifically give stuff away for free, etc. I often take bags of books and clothes to the charity shops, but especially at the moment as we are moving house next month (hopefully!), I just have so many things that I want to get rid of - and would love to know that they've gone to a good and appreciative home! I did actually list a load of empty CD and DVD cases on the Sell site as "free" and they were snapped up. Thanks so much for writing this post, it has really inspired me to start up a group :)<br />Marina xxMarinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05566934780463518438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7586547639960471046.post-53312834006453040422012-10-31T15:44:54.659+00:002012-10-31T15:44:54.659+00:00Why not set up a group yourself and make it specif...Why not set up a group yourself and make it specific for your local area, that's what ours is. Add your friends and get them to add people too. Call it Community Needs or something like that. People can then not only get rid of their unwanted stuff but also can post requests for anything they might need. I've never set up a group on Facebook before but it can't be that hard as it has step by step instructions. Glad you found the blog :)Miss Organic Fair Trade Knickershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03455603174158335746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7586547639960471046.post-84457030692759799102012-10-31T13:26:49.903+00:002012-10-31T13:26:49.903+00:00I am so glad I found you! and I don't know how...I am so glad I found you! and I don't know how I did as it was by accident as I read my blog list this morning. I'm an avid recycler, I believe it should be upcycled or recycled if at all possible, and I do take tons of stuff to charity shops, which of course they turn around and sell, but you have given me a brilliant idea, of course... why not give it away? If someone needs it, let them have it, I don't have a problem with that, you know your things are being used and hopefully not thrown away! We save our planet while saving our pocket books as well. Love this idea! Thank you! Now I have to find a local place that does exchanges and stuff like that, I will try facebook as you suggested, but... hmmmm maybe even a google search? So glad I found you!
